Hi guys, I hosted a fng2 server from this fork https://github.com/Jupeyy/teeworlds-fng2-mod on cheap VPS with ubuntu. And it lagged when someone joins server, when you freeze someone, when you throw someone frozen on spikes. So I tried to upgrade VPS to 2gb RAM and 1vCore (Ryzen 3000/5000/7000/9000, Xeon E-2200/2300/2400) and still get same lags. My question is what causing those problems? Should I try even more expensive VPS or it doesn't make sense?

something you could try would be to host it on your private machine and see if these lags come from the server binaries somehow

it's also easier to understand which of your computer's resources are going to be hogged by the server when you run it locally, with a system monitor

Jupstars fng2 should really be fine. I never had issues with it. And there are always servers up and running with it too.

It just won’t fix any of your performance issues. Will just make it worse actually.

If you are sure there are lags and it’s not you client side. And others have them too. I would talk to the Hoster or try switching Hoster.

If you don’t believe fng2 is stable try any other known to be stable server

I just try to understand if it's common problem and if someone already knows exact answer

Teeworlds performs well with little resources

modifications of Teeworlds can easily fuck something up, write awful code, be synchronous when they shouldn't etc. if it isn't a well-used binary I'd try that first.

I would bet more on the Hoster being bad than fng2 being bad

try vanilla 0.7 and see if you have the same issues, at least then you can say that your hoster is the issue or the sizing of your vps.
