sorry for the late answer. For simple solo games, id say it doesnt apply that much because in those games (from my experience) you can reach the limits of the game engine in a "reasonable" amount of time, but in teeworlds, after many hours, i still surprise myself with my new movement and skills. For simple multiplayer games, its hard to tell because afaik theres not that many simple multiplayer games where the individual movement and techniques have multiple layers. It also depends on what do you define as a "simple game" ! The only "simple" game where i found the same gameplay depth is rocket league. I didnt played that many multiplayers games tho. Also i only considered individual improvement here, not the teamplay aspect.
