so hey, uhm dk if this is the right place to ask, but i'm trying to modify the source code, so that the normal Hook acts like when you hook a Tee, meaning that it releases automatically after set time. I Copied the if function i found for the players, copied it and removed everything where it says "check for player".. which works kinda.. but now i have this strange bug, where when u hook directly under or sideways onto a tile, it waits around 5 seconds and then the game jumps to the players actual position. Rlly don't know what causes that :/

Sounds like a prediction fail sort of. Maybe if you show a video of the behaviour I can be more certain

ye checked that but that only seems to do smoothing stuff.. the bug still occurs

That very much looks like a mispredict to me, you sure it still happens with cl_predict 0? (edited)

ye only thing happens when i change it to 0 is that i get micro jitter xd

It's supposed to run less smooth. I thought it'd also fix this. Are you using the client you compile from this same source?

but then also, if i change it to "HOOK_IDLE" the bug disappears, but after the Hook gets released, it fires a new one right after

no im using ddnet, but shouldnt make a difference, no?

Also cl_predict 0 might not work as I expect in ddnet anymore with the antiping code

wow well okay xD it works if i use the compiled client.. but that means everyone who wanna play the mod must also use a costum client.. which sucks pretty much.. i assume there is no work arround for that?

but then shouldnt it also struggle with ddnet servers and vanilla client when having endless hook aktivated? idk this is confuzing lol xd
