how do you "glitch" ninjas?

It's a bit complicated. You need to snap game info as usual with GAMEFLAG_TEAM not set. Then you need to skip snapping game info but still snap playerinfo. Then you snap gameinfo again with GAMEFLAG_TEAM set.

But you need to do it when there are no characters or you can skip them when snapping. Otherwise the game crashes.

you can use an extension on ddnet clients btw to allow x_skins be colored as u want

In 0.7 similar thing happens where the characters is still colored in teamed mode but the ninja will still be red/blue.

well if the snapshot are intact and not missing anything, the characters will just change to team colors on the fly.
