I noticed that ddnet started to avoid political stance in terms of flags.

the fact that traditional chinese in ddnet got a default flag is just sad. the translation is indeed taiwan chinese instead of Cantonese in terms of word usage. The fact that chinese ppl is ultra sensitive and only see things at face value when they see a taiwan flag but have no problem with a hk flag or even macau flag is just sad.

But that being said. Always thought using flag to represent language is kinda stupid.
If you only attach flag in the sense of countries. Which some ppl do only see them as country instead of country or language.

But ye. It is probably a chinese thing since our language is split and scattered within and outside of the official "china" which is currently the mainland+HongKong+macau(edited)

But chinese ppl are educated to include taiwan as well. Which causes a lot of problem. (Plus the fact a war towards taiwan is being hinted by gov)
Personally I don't care that much. But I don't like how ppl see things that doesn't exist like the political stance in a open-source and semi-old game.(edited)

But I do think we need to address the language situation a little bit. Currently it is china that has problem with it. Who knows what would change in like 5 years.

But I don't want to just remove flags from the language settings either.
A separate mechanism (emoji tag sequences) is used for regional flags, such as England , Scotland , Wales , Texas or California [12] It uses U+1F3F4 WAVING BLACK FLAG and formatting tag characters instead of regional indicator symbols.
