i dont understand how
'tee1' changed name to 'name2'
is more confusing than
'tee1' left the game
'name2' entered and joined the red team
02:54
at least with the first option its obvious that its a namechange
02:57
@jxsl13
i also dont see how it prevents faking as they could do the same thing there too
02:58
@Dune
but people on 0.7 dont seem to namechange any less, idk its one of the realities of a game without accounts

I guess in that regard my point is bullshit.

@noby
I don't see a problem with that, but I still don't see the need to namechange
during
a game

wouldnt it be the same reasons anyone changes name in general

im name changes are useful ingame. I use them to show others how long i am afk during a ddrace for example.
10:26
'ChillerDragon' -> 'afk until 1pm'
10:27
except chat spam i never noticed any bad that could come from name changes.

10:55
also servers that prevent certain names from being used unless they auth in f2 first

surely you don't think every gamemode has to have a concept of matches and games

prefixing playernames with ranks, levels, afk tag .. etc.

I did some fps benchmarks, i get double as much fps on ddnet client with opengl 3 (experimental) on (in comparison to the default client)
Dune

ddnet vs vanilla?
23:13
vanilla = default
Dune

0.7?
23:25
because ddnet is .6, it would make more sense to compare with old vanilla
