It's a good place to centralize information and resources about mods, etc.

If someone had the skills, time and dedication for that, we would happily port :)

I really like how fast the teeworlds website loads
16:46
that would be lost on discourse
16:46
I think I set up a test discourse instance once
16:46
the mod tools are definitely better there
16:46
(also, discourse doesn't really work with JS disabled IIRC)
Avatar
discourse is more dynamic and you have got a better user experience, especially with highly frequented topics. Also it allows users to see, when someone is currently replying to your topic. in contrast to punBB I think that it is and will be alive for a long time, as a lot of companies use it as their support software. The composition of topics is way better, as you can see the preview. This would not be possible without javascript. I don't feel like discourse is far slower than a native punBB site, other than the javascript load times?
Avatar
oh and it uses lots of ram on the client (and server) and hijacks scrolling and search behavior

what about flarum? probably not as heavy as discourse
Avatar
flarum seems visually appealing, UX , dunno 🙂
Avatar
also does not work without JS (I don't like when it doesn't)

vBulletin 5 ?

(I don't immediately rule out forum software if it doesn't support browsing without JS. I don't see a reason why you can't render static text on the server.)

vbulletin looks like proprietrary software. I personally wouldn't want to run it (there's plently of good open-source forum software)
18:42
god damn it, that word
18:42
*proprietary
Avatar
it is, got a license flying around ._., I think Discourse is highly used and well maintained.
Avatar
yep
18:43
e.g. rust uses it IIRC
Avatar
I saw it being used by Plex(Media centre) and PlatformIO
Avatar
works without JS sounds like a harsh constraint nowadays unfortunately 😦
Avatar
I don't mind supporting that constraint where I can
18:45
it's not that I browse without JS, but some people do
18:46
e.g. I was once very happy that the arch linux forums worked without JS, when trying to access them with a terminal browser to fix an installatio

yeah makes sense
18:46
not sure what discourse looks like in links, probably like garbage

@LordSk 🦋 does your zomb mode require any additional dependencies?
Avatar
LordSk 🦋 2019-09-28 19:12:32Z
@MatiasMunk No I don't think so, why?
Avatar
Dunno, permission denied to run.
19:13
Anyway, it's weird when I git your zomb repo I don't get source files
19:13
only build folder
Avatar
chmod +x binary
19:13
perhaps
Avatar
Shouldn't be necessary, all other mods work.
19:14
And built from source on that very machine
19:19
Uhm I don't get how I can even compile in the process git clone --single-branch --branch mod/zomb https://github.com/LordSk/teeworlds.git --recurse-submodules . then compile Yet I only have build folder when I go into my docker container 😛

Cmake issue perhaps?
Avatar
Probably, dunno. Works with your instagib, so I can't see what shouldn't work. I set it up the same way. (edited)
