I think it would've been good if the community could react to the final list to give some feedback or discuss a few things out that the community does not agree with.
ngl these kind of reactions are extremely demotivating and partly reason no one wants to change things anymore. Constructive feedback would be way more helpful

well imo a couple of maps should have been moved down but a lot got pushed up completely sometimes changing the meaning of what a category would stand for
the star rating is not consistent and to me just doesnt make sense, putting a map like mainiac only 2 stars away from redcastle. what kinda diff spike is that
Basically new system is based on solely map difficulty since length is taken out of the stars. It was based on numbers, e.g. 1-3 easy, easy 4-6 main etc, thats why stars now are 1-3, I proposed mind to keep 5 stars for difficulty since its more accurate and keeps someway the old system understanding from players
No because old list has ratings based on difficulty + length (rated together) and in new system you just rate the overall difficulty and then add bonus points for length, old system is basing on stars=points (1-5), in new system it’s points (stars are only to showcase difficulty) and you are not limited by 5 options from each difficulty (rn you have 3 difficulty possibilities multiplied by X different lengths)
Can we please delete RedCastle as a map? There is a request from many respectable Teeworlds players that RedCastle has a direct affect to their mental health, people are literally drinking and smoking more weeed than ever. This map is the anti teeworld christ and should be banished and never spoken of ever again.

Can we move the discussion for it to #mapping_chatroom so we are more specific on the topic and interested people can focus on the discussion? I am not involved into the testing specification, so maybe there could be a clarification somewhere how the rating is done & how it should be

This is not fully true, I said we can do 5 stars if many people help with the rating, since 5 stars is only more accurate if we have a lot of opinions.

But we did it with 5 Stars already for all maps back then i think no?

Maybe my @mind plays tricks on me. I cant quite remember

I'm 100% sure all people that complain now would not have helped before the current news message XD (and they probably won't after, they are just here to complain)
I would like to say that we now have a base that can easily be adjusted in the future, but not having map length listed makes this rerate a bit weird.(edited)

I think its best to make a new team, set some rules, talk about the rating (map length etc.) and then start rating again, but we start with mind his rating list since that seems more accurate.

Talking is always so easy (well you are currently only talking about talking, which is even easier), but when it comes about acting nobody will be there.
ngl i checked a little bit the rerating list, i feel like mains and hards are way more accurate than insane/extreme, and i feel like if we do a second check with pros (ziinox etc) we could end with a really strong rerate list(edited)
Current system has difficulty and length all in one, 3 stars for difficulty and 2 for length, but 2 stars aren't enough for length and 3 stars aren't enough for rating difficulty either

i think he is trying to say that you cant only look at stars now, because 2 maps of the same difficulty can be rated with the same stars but will give varying points depending on length, so you have to look at both

Yeah i understood but imo if you make that system the stars are completely useless and looking only the point is enough to understand the difficulty of map
i believe the scale makes sense for every category except extreme

my opinion is to either keep the current system or deleting stars rating on that new system so you only check the difficulty of maps with points but its very long and hard to setup
The probleme is just that the new system doesn't alow us to differenciate map with their real difficulty and doesn't have any hierarchy/order, if the system changes this way, then new categories should change from easy/main/... to the number of pts maps give

i think the problem they are saying is that to search for a 19 pts insane map (3 star), they cant just put "3" on the reason input, idk how new system will look but assuming you have multiple categories of insane or you can search by length, you will have to search X times to find all 19 pts maps(edited)
Map Rerating
Hey ,
The proposal for rerating all existing maps, which has been in the works for quite some time, is now ready! You can check out the final version of the proposal here: https://kog.tw/map_rerating.php
A big shoutout to @wats for his work/influence on this proposal.
As a result of this change, you may notice some shifts in the scoreboard due to updated point ranges. We don’t have an exact rollout date yet, but we expect it to be implemented within the next 45 days.
StatisticsTotal maps/rerated maps: 909 / 849 (93,4%) maps have been rerated
Current fixed points/proposed fixed points: 10070 / 19427 (92.92%) increased of possible fixed points
Cheers,
Avolicious

Hello everyone, for some time now in Chile we are facing a "problem" as a community (although it is never bad that the number of players increases) and that is that the number of Russian players on the Chilean servers makes it unlivable. What I mean by this is that at this very moment of 8 servers in Chile, 7 are full of Russian players playing easy and only one that concentrates all the Chilean players and when trying to play another mode/difficulty they change the maps or even enter a group to a server and just change the map without caring if there are people playing.
In my opinion the origin of this problem lies in the fact that for the emerging Russian community it is not enough to have a single server without authentication/session and even more so when they are new, they do not have points or the concept of "creating an account", that is why and because there is no active moderator for South America and there is also no presence of moderators from other regions that as a community in order to play we have started to KICK players since they also do not understand if they are asked to go to another server to play THE SAME MAP.
I leave this as a background and resort to this medium since my experience with the ticket methodology has been disastrous. But always keeping in mind that the main idea is focused on finding solutions and not culprits.
Possible solutions:
Leave more Russian servers without login
Select a moderator for Chile (even if it is for a trial period)
Maintain the presence of active moderators in the SA region.(edited)

The ticket system has never worked and will never work, it only serves to maintain internal order and to find a "friendly" solution or to reduce problems. If this affects the community, it is correct that it be answered at a general level or at least that it be known and publicly accessible. There is a channel dedicated to the rules for players but nothing related to the reciprocity that this also entails.
But I'm waiting for the answer

This is a typical situation where a governance board or a committee can work on this and find a solution for the problem. Everything communicated on a public level, full transparency and disclosure

I like the pretty much of people that never tried to add a solution to a problem
I dont mind if the activity is lower, but more quality based. Real discussions, where people are willing to work on something instead of just saying: "Yep, this is bad. Add new Feature X", without even thinking about the amount of work & the possible use-case/integration
20:24
But I guess I am getting old

just close it and leave an internal note with the resolution of the case.
I work as it support and I also have to use tickets but its rubbish..(edited)

Nah, but people dont respect the work from like https://kog.tw/map_rerating.php@mind and the others mentioned in the news post put a lot of time and effort into this & the only thing I've seen was crying around mostly.

And thats sad to be honest. Any type of contribution is helping, but sometimes things cant change within a day or two.
Some changes are heavily affecting the userbase or the implementation is complicated

After months and years of inactivity, I returned to play KoG to enjoy with my friends, but as levi says, lately the Russian community has taken over the Chilean servers. On more than one occasion I have been trying to pass a map ONLY and Russians enter to change the difficulty and put an EASY map, in which I can not do anything because they are the majority, as a preventive measure so that they do not ruin a map while we are passing it, if we see that many Russians enter we kick them out because it would not be nice if you are 40 minutes in an Insane map, near the goal and they change the map without you being able to do anything. I think you should take more into account the reason for this situation.
I emphasize that as levi also commented, there are no active moderators in SA and I know that it is not so easy to put someone who is not trusted to moderate an entire community, but it is necessary to have a moderator to control the situation a little more.
I hope a solution can be found soon
Greetings.
