I don't think it's based on having an active timer anymore, as in being mid-race. It's changed into the ddrace standard. So anyone who has spent enough time on the server gets it. (somewhere along the lines of 8 minutes). So as far as I've understood, it technically isn't broken and therefor doesn't need fixing. However, you can argue that this system might not be the most beneficial for a gores community.
