If it's vram crash based on texture quantity, me and mpampas have already spoken with them. Make a copy of your skin/assets folders as a backup and then delete everything in original folder. Start the game after you deleted everything and change to Open Gl 3.3.0 in Settings - Graphics. This should fix the issue. After doing this you can add all the skins back again from your copied backup folder. This worked for me, if it still crashes, open your skin folder and delete some skins, preferably some of the bigger ones. You can filter the folder by size if you click View - Filter by size - Descending. Hope this helps! (edited)

I'm not sure how it works, so don't take my word for it. But as far as I've understood, I think the function "download skins" doesn't mean you'll see skins you don't have, it means that the skins you have will be downloaded for you, instead of having to be rendered and loaded up, so it won't take up as much vram space when starting game / joining a server. So people will have to add the skin to their files either way. If you get it included into next Ahl folder, a lot of people will have the skin though. I'd try make that happen if I were you!
