if i got accepted skin in #📬submit-skins and want to edit name and add better resolution to skin, is it possible? (and if this possible i want to little change the skin, add glowing to background, not infront) @Skin Database Crew(edited)

It's been there forever, there are some parts that are only possible with weak hook, some things that are easier with weak hook. It's now too late to change it without annoying every old player ever

However, we already do have a patch for it, you can disable weak hook by changing a setting nowadays sv_no_weak_hook 1

It also changes the feeling of the game a bit. Weak hook is a result of something else, the velocities being added in order. When you fix that a lot of things start to feel slightly different
it would be cool if no weak hook would become the standard for new maps and if the mapper wants weak he can change that, instead of the other way around. I mean I suppose most people would prefer that no?

I think when this was proposed we were worried about new players getting very confused. We have thousands of maps that have this mechanic that'd behave different to new maps, which is not very easy to explain to new players(edited)
yeah that's one of the main things that bother me about it.

like when you drop somewhere with a tee and you hook the bottom tee repeatedly to break in the air, with weak hook that is way less consistent I hate it.

but they will have this weird experience where the timing of their hammerfly is wrong on old maps but correct on new maps or vice-versa
but this is already the case since you sometimes have strong and sometimes you have weak and that is random. some people dont know weak strong exists, and many maps dont allow /spec so you can't change strong weak mid race right?
I mean I know its not random, what I meant is you usually dont really pay attention to it(edited)

or when you play with many people its somewhat random

There is some validity to this. This was a very old discussion so I don't really remember how we settled with not enabling this for new maps

Perhaps we thought "always inconsistent" in a way that can be fixed in a consistent way (change the driver to be the strong person) is better than "always consistent" as long as you are on a map released after some arbitrary date which you have to know

Perhaps if this discussion came up back in 2011 when we were migrating to 0.6 with 600 or so players this may have been changed
