I totally agree, that detailled feedback is the best and i think, that every mapper should have a chance to learn mapping. However, the current map testing team doesn't have the ressources to make every map good. We had an internal talk about how to decline a map. Besides agreeing, that there should be some good feedback on a map from a new mapper, we also agreed that we should always add something like "you can always ask for help" on a map decline.
I saw many new mappers, who wouldn't understand the feedback they are receiving from the testers and i don't think, that we have to give a mapping tutorial on every decline. It doesn't feel great, to give alot of feedback and then realise, that the mapper just stopped mapping, but that's the usual case on first map declines.
I can even agree, that this "speedrun decline" thing gives off a bad image, but this conversation is not really about critically reflecting that, which is sad. @Tsin can you write your criticism in the same way as you expect testers to decline maps from others (constructive feedback)? While reading this conversation i don't think that your strategy of calling out people, who invest a lot of their free time in the map testing process, is leading to a positive outcome.
