there should be no difference in a ddnet gctf server and a regular ddnet server. Its the same bridge. So if it is true that ddnet-insta gctf servers are more laggy (which i hear for the first time) then i would assume that means that ddnet servers it self are more laggy.

I mean they are for sure more heavy than a vanilla server but that should not impact gameplay.
well 0.7 is something else. That goes through a translation layer. 0.7 is second class citizen in ddnet. But you are looking for a 0.6 server thats native

but also the translation layer should not be noticeable

So you are looking for a non bridge 0.6 server to play with your 0.7 friends that lagg on bridge servers? xd
I think the paper does not support your conclusion. I only see that depeering happens as the result of sanctions, but not that peerings itself are sanctioned. i.e. people would be allowed to peer, but don't do so for economic or other reasons, but not because it's banned

yes, peerings might be made harder by the sanctions. I understoo your initial message as "peerings are officially forbidden by some entity" but I couldn't find points to support this
ISPs like DTAG ( Deutsche Telekom ) might have their own cables in poland and russia. Others have booked some bandwidth on those cables, so they cant just shut them down.

Well, peerings are not written into the sanction itself. But transactions towards russia and back are not possible as of now. So they are still running on already paid contracts and this might lead to problems after this contracts end.
Like Gazprom. Austria had an agreement with Gazprom to get gas over the next few years, which is legally bound. The EU cant just cut the private sector business, because this would be major loss in revenue for the austrian company OMV - or the European Union will pay the money back.

I highly doubt that DTAG or any major ISP will deny traffic, but routings might change because some DTAG upstreams might not announce the russian routes(edited)
