you need different mapping skills for different difficulties/map styles
i suggest to find some map concepts you would like to implement and i highly recommend to not make something that's above your own skill level
usually it's "easier" to make dummy/solo maps, because you can test them by yourself

Guys, in your opinion, whats "server type" of map is the easiest for beginners in mapping?
i think u might be better with mapping around the average difficulty of map u can play, cuz u might get a better idea on how to map a harder difficulty without over buffing it

by over buffing it i mean, if u have ever played a ddmax pro map for example (very old maps) some of them just look like novice maps on steroids(edited)
