Cellegen
I was first discussing the new UX change on #announcements, @archimede67 said that my recommendations are "impossible" and "not needed", which is absurd, so I tried arguing about it, to let him actually think twice about releasing it, however he dodged more questions, than the best dodgeball player alive.
I got it:
The conversation starts with Cellegen feeling ostracized by game communities. The discussion rapidly progresses towards a UX design change being introduced to the game, specifically, something related to a scoreboard. Cellegen critiqued the implementation of this design. Archimede67 appeared to defend the change, resulting in a clash.
The major point of contention between Cellegen and archimede67 is the supposed lack of community consultation about the change. Cellegen challenges the decision-making process, arguing that it doesn't represent the majority of the player base. They criticize using GitHub for discussion and decision-making since they believe not all players, who are mostly non-devs, are active there.
In contrast, archimede67 and melon argue that active players and anyone interested in contributing can engage via GitHub or the #developer Discord channel. Melon even suggests that Cellegen should gather in-game feedback and formally propose an issue if they have problems with the new changes.
Toward the end of the conversation, the broader issue is discussed of how to best engage with the game's community about changes to its design. Cellogen argues that most of the playerbase may not have a platform (like GitHub or Discord) to express their opinions, implying that a significant portion of the game's players are not part of the decision-making process. The conversation ends with the promise of new Discord forums coming soon, suggested as a possible solution to improve discussion and engagement.
