1- I mentioned Murpi because he is the equivalent of the lead tester and the one who defends the rules (along with Heinrich). I didn't know he wasn't the only one behind it. Moreover, saying that the testers make the mapping rules and on the maps, then saying that you had a discussion among yourselves to redo them your way, is rly sad. 2- This is exactly the problem of point 1.
3- I understand that we may not have explained everything as well as possible, but as mentioned earlier, we talked about it for over a week on channels you have access to, then on Pipou's rules. And we did take into account what you think, but I get the impression that you don't understand the category and the rest because you are not active in the game and testing.
Maybe what we want is not within the scope of the tester's role, but personally, i'm not thinking just as a tester. It seems to me that the game is becoming less and less attractive (I know you'll show me the player numbers, thanks to the Chinese for that) but there's no novelty, the system is very old and increasingly unbalanced over time. That's why we want a rerate, new categories, a new system. And I think the announcement of a possible DDNet 2 and then its sudden stop is a sad example. The game isn't renewing itself anymore, no more tournament... . That my point of view as a player since few years.
Silex fix the "skip" when i was doing it down way with coradax on the first and second day of the rls, but didn't fix the rest no idea why. But now we can fix anymore

I warn pipou while he was creating the map, because i saw the skip on hostile 2, but he wanted a coherence in the map for the series, so he didn't fix with lock or other way

Where is it desync? Map rlsd 2022 -> coradax and vena tried to skip by falling through killtiles -> silex fixed the skip, coke warns him about the other -> 2023 -> new rule -> 2024 -> ppl skip

Of course, why it would not be possible, i fixed with spur all the dummy done in teamrank (btw 6 months pass and it's still not upload)
Many fixes would entail deletion of all saves and all ranks need to be combed through. For more complex fixes for which we don’t have tooling that might mean deletion of all ranks

I understand for saves, but for deleting rank, i mentionned when the map can delete teamrank, and when it need to delete specific rank / check the some rank
And it mean dummy map will never be fix? Because of saves?
I know it takes time, and that why i mentionned which rank need check and which rank doesn't also all rank older than the first time they skipped dont need to be verify. And in 6 months they is probably more rank now, anyway i don't mind about dummy map, gl with it i've done my job, ty spur for the help.(edited)

Could've just been me misinterpreting things because of the late night, but it seemed as if you and vena were talking about the same rule in different applications, because you stated that the rule was out 10 months ago, vena said bit3 existed before it so it doesn't really apply in the same way since the rule wasn't there for it's release. I think it's the former in this scenario though because it took me 10 mins to gather my thoughts into a single coherent message
at least on some dummy maps it should be doable to fix teamranks without affecting the gameplay? i mean you just delete all teamranks and put stoppers or buttons to the place where the dummy is supposed to die? (and then you only need to delete teamranks?)(edited)

Also I would like you to note that currently you don’t like the rule. We revert it, I will be having this chat with @<BµmM> where he hates that his rank is getting deleted

Pov iku on hostile 3 then cry against the map every day

There is literally no way to make everyone happy. I honestly don’t know what to do at this point. There is always some huge issue with this game with some subcommunity
Btw learath2 what will happend for the new dummy map cheat, i think it's hurricane using a lag serveur to do a button manipulation for teamrank? Or maybe i didn't understand his way to skip

With this rule, skips become part of maps permanently. That is a part of the game (looking for skips, doing skips) that some players enjoy.
Without the rule, these skips are lost to time, ranks have to be deleted all the time and we have to spend hours trying to comb through runs and saves.
At the time when this was being discussed, I thought there wasn’t really much harm to skips in general if we could have a split leaderboard somehow. That’s why I voted the way I did. Btw most of this discussion wasn’t even held privately, it was all in #bugs you can still read it if you’d like
can someone link that conversation for me? i have no idea how to find it

idk why you even introduced a rule like that without sub-clauses allowing mappers to decide if they want to fix skips post grace period?
"% of map skipped" is the first thing that comes to mind

It has all been discussed in there, if it’s really this important, just go read that. I know the rule is not ideal, but no rules just mappers getting to change anything whenever is a lot of ranks deleted, a lot of saves deleted and a lot of hours out of everyone involveds lives

I would say : mapper can't change whitout permission (mean can't change for minor cheat or useless things)
+ the map can be change only if it's a recent cheat, for example, fixing some old map today need too much rank to be remove
Exactly, then we can just remove the rule and everyone can be happy again. Then the other camp can start complaining about how unfair it is that their ranks are getting deleted

You’ve only really experienced bit3 as a big incident relating to this rule. I think bit3’s demise has nothing to do with the skip, it was simply just too long for it to survive ddos for a reasonable team 0 run
(I do understand how you feel btw, you can just look up my messages when I saw all the full bit3 servers were just random people and dummies trying to skip)

I’m just saying there is more than one explanation for what might appear obvious

Nobody is doing the skip anymore, time to come back

I bet stronghold would still be played a lot even if there was a skip for it. There is a certain charm to these maps that make them weeknight classics

I think what’s more interesting is harder maps that aren’t suited for team 0. Will those be played less if there is a skip? There are only a handful of players that even play them so it’s hard to measure really. Will a skipped run ever be respected?

I just view these runs as not even being a part of the leaderboard, that’s probably why I feel differently. If you skipped the map with a very hard trick that’s impressive, but imo you did not finish the map

Yep but still depend on the skip, map like heartcore (if you saw the tas) i would respect because the skip is 100000 time harder than the real map, while skip like bit3 is just t0 64 tee spaming until they get lucky and free finish

You are allowed design and QoL fixes that don’t affect ranks. I think those are the only subclauses we have right now

I wasn't talking about teamrank dummy but about qol fix that the mapper had done in less than two weeks. Why weren't the fixes done?

But if you are on your local PC sqlite probably is easier for this
You just test maps, and if you are active enough in testing you'll become a trial tester, and if you are active enough in testing, you'll become a tester
Im playing tw a long long time, and i create a lot of map. Im not the best tester, but sure i have the same skill as the actual testers, but I'm still not a tester.
AND HERE main question WHY. answer is ez. No new member policy. I wanna some times test when have mood. but i do it unofficial, for example last released map quon nobody know but if i didnt help this map never release just look at how it was and how it is, you can download the old map from the test log.
By the way, if anyone thinks there is a "practice test" role, there are big problems here too, but I like the idea.
I have many more great ideas that would definitely help ddnet, especially with card releases and newbies, but there's no point in talking about it while there are problems recruiting new testers. https://discord.com/channels/252358080522747904/342454474117218334/1254868495171321856https://discord.com/channels/252358080522747904/342454474117218334/1254867817904472124
keep in mind a test lead doesnt exist anymore - the current test team decides together - so if someone is not beeing invited to be a tester / people get demoted it should be a democratic decision

also maybe he just stepped down from the role

I don't think the rule has to be adjusted in its wording but you guys have to stop holding onto the way it's phrased so badly.
Things that should be valued in addition to the phrasing should be:
1. The purpose of the rule
2. The reason why the rule has come into effect (Adorenarine incident in this case)
3. The "admin's discretion" that was also embedded into the same rule and totally puts the admins in charge as it's basically up to them how to handle each case so the rule itself is just kind of invalidating itself
Additionally the handling of the rule in the past is so insanely unclear that it is just kind of a joke. Bit 3 skip is apparently just completely untouchable because of the rule. Meanwhile Hostile 3 was allowed to be fixed if certain criteria was met (agreement of players who finished it the "legit" way while the ones who skipped apparently didn't need to be asked which basically already implies that their way was "illegal" even though the rule doesn't say so).
Basically everyone does whatever one wants with the rule right now. At least that's how it seems and it's just kind of funny at this point xDD

I want to mention that any rule for mapping/testing is the decision of the testers in the end, so i the discussion about strict clear rules is a big one

yeah i want to mention that ddnet shouldnt have double standards (testers can do whatever they want but when admins do stuff, they get criticised)(edited)
