I dont have android but I will try complaining to telekom
If you're at Deutsche Telekom, this is definitely unexpected. I haven't seen them eat UDP packets to our servers

If there are two .rules files for the same tileset in the DDNetClient and .local/share/ddnet/ directories, the client will only show the rules from the file in the .local/share/ddnet/ directory. Wouldn't it be better to concat both files and show all available rules (even if one file is a duplicate of the other)?

that would be super hard.. the client would need to know about file types, e.g. 2 images cannot be concated

and sometimes it might not even be correct
Avatar
Perhaps I misspoke but I was talking about concatenating .rules files which are text files. It shouldn't be hard in my opinion

but then the client would need to open it, to check if it's actually a text file. Additionally sometimes concating rules might not be the correct behavior

As it currently does, no?

Why not?

it only loads one file which it assumes to be the correct one i guess

there might be collisions in the rules for example
20:44
even if loading all files is generally possible, it seems non trivial to logically have it correct then
20:49
you can always create an issue on github if you think your idea is good. One idea that could work is add a new line: "include_base" which basically signals that your rule is an extension to the existing one
20:49
or "overwrite_base_on_collision"

There are only two directories to search a file (I'm not sure, maybe more on Window? But anyway less than 3 I think) so assuming that another file is correct is not so much more riskier in my opinion I would say that a procedure could be written to solve collisions but I understand that they are a problem
Avatar
or not concat the files, but simply show them as separate rules?

my point is actually more about how our filesystem wrapper works, it would probably need a new function for that. But as said i could defs imagine it would be generally possible

Meaning?
in the editor there is simply: "Run rule (1)" "Run rule (2)"
20:52
Since you talked about concat it sounded like you want to merge the rules
20:52
into one rule

Why not, it looks good to me

No sorry, I was talking about concatenating the files as strings are concatenated but show the rules of the other file(s) following the first rules

ah ok, yeah but i think rules have names right? I was just not sure if u meant replacing a rule with same name vs. just showing both then
20:58
but anyway, I suggest you to open an issue on github

I don't have a precise idea about it right now In the case of two rules with the same name, I think that show both of them without changing their name is acceptable since they should have the same behaviour. Another solution could be appending (1) to their title as for players ingame. Else choosing from arbitrarily directory and ignoring the other one could work too
