i did translate node by node pressing next because i thought it will allow me to publish all translation nodes in once

yes, changes don't send all at once. u need to publish every change on its own. this always been like this

didn't translate things on wiki for a while

So it's not good translation UX :/. We should look whether the issue is already reported to the mediawiki translate extension and file an issue ourself if it doesn't exist yet. If someone find or files the issue please link it here (I don't have time rn, but might do later this week)
