its basically a "couldnt execute this file you want me to execute" - but it wont stop
@Mattiteusz you have the autoexec_server.cfg in steamapps/common/DDraceNetwork/ddnet/data
i thought the server exists bcs the config does not exist

but then the server exists bcs of a different problem

ok then it's most likely that the windows update added a firewall rule to prevent packets to arrive to your localhost.
or an anti virus system does that.
Dunno if u could fix that too, but u can also always connect via localhost

bureaucracy, missed capacity for make it possible cuz the support would get so much to do. I also think that it would scare off new players if its done like on kog. I personally think that it wouldnt be worth it. Maybe its good for anticheat. Im not into cybersecurity but I could imagine that with loginstuff it can be very dangerous to lose the name+password or pressing the login-bind on a vanilla server which leads to reveal these datas.
I've argued this to the point of being banned after calling him an insane liar when he admitted he made stuff up about how the servers are administered to look good in marketing. Its not gonna change but what needs to be done is for DDnet set up a few KoG servers. Currently hundreds of players are playing "DDnet Oldschool" servers on "AIP Gores" map as an alternative and Im sure they wold love a server where the maps you choose from aren't mixed in with DDNet maps.
17:23
There are a few small communities but they dont have the reach so their servers are never full.
17:25
In regards to bad actors, currently "Logged in" players can't be kicked from KoG servers which lets them spam votes, and considering that people still wait over a week to get regisered the mods are overburdened. Besides, 90% of people who join the KoG discord leave the moment they get their accounts, which is why their Bot messages are full of people leaving "jokingly" being banned.
The othe main bad actor problem are all the people DDOSing KoG Servers for legitimate or illegitimate grievances stemming from the change in moderation processing, ban length, accounts etc. Was a problem before too, but never this big.
First of all, not true (Though probably true for Teeworlds). Second of all the reasons for the DDOSing when left with no recourse as the administration team is a locked sect with no community insight and their "cheat detection" is proprietary and doesn´t provide feedback could lead to players feeling so frustrated that they resort to illegitimate actions

They dont have to, but they do. And they otherwise may not have.

Not encouraging it. Explaining it or rather that the administration burden has grown exponentially since they resorted to their path of action.

So it has not solved "illegitimate" actors. In fact they are at the process of adding second tier locked private servers funded by donations to allow people to rent them and thus avoid DDOS:ers partly that way.
17:32
Or at least were, Im not keeping track of it anymore.
KoG admins squashed their own community in a way, including previously banning dozens of established players using a publicly unverifiable tool that they later unbanned without specifying if they were wrong or not. The person that runs it now claims private ownership, old map testers have been excluded or have resigned in protest etc
heinrich5991
that sounds a lot cooler than ddnet trying to squash all community servers
Its just hard to compete with something established, just as people have noticed when it comes to competing with othr established internet products from twitter to facebook to anything really. This is a smaller scale

u say that bcs u like ddrace.. i'd prefer if gores is a part of ddnet

Well DDnet could be the alternative I guess. You already are the alternative, its just that people are stuck playing AIP Gores or guessing which map is Gores and which isnt if they try to vote on the oldschool server
17:45
But I understand it would make it even harder for small communities, thats a good counter argument that should be weighed
But they had an idea, they have a huge plan now. And they just rammed it through in all directions. They increased the number of players and discord members artificially and so increased the moderation burden on themselves
17:49
which caused a lot of backlash on mods for slow responses, responses made even more necessary because of the account system which made them even more harsh etc
17:49
So its nothing like the chill place it was 5+ years ago
Anyway if its just 4.5% I dont know if its worth being worried about just to protect that. ITs probably even a smaller percentage when it comes to gores themselves
17:58
But I think its a valid concern and if thats the main reason then its cool. Just a bit sad for all those ppl
