Maybe because using your brain is also part of the skill?

bro ddnet is a game that requires brain to find bugs skips etc, if its public anyone can steal it, and no one will be credited and the top leaderboards are run by 2 people ( spooky broke) wich are also a team and no one will be able to stop them from stealing the ranks, thats the fun part finding a skip to outsmart the mechanically skilled players

no, but it is obviously way easier to try to replicate it rather than first having to discover it

sure its more respectable finding the strats yourself but gatekeeping it just makes the map unable to be nearly as competitive as it mightve been (which given the games size isnt much but still)

games like portal also share their runs AFAIK and trackmania does as well which for most maps isnt much but even massive skips that could take others hundreds of hours to discover are shared for all rather than gatekeeping it for themselves

sure but depending on how hard the skip is to discover it can still be very hard, + for smaller timesaves etc that you might not even know exist in the first place

also if people find an insanely easy skip that might be somewhat hard to find, its the opposite 'issue' sharing demos has where only mechanical skill is required
