What causes the variation in distance to occur?
that is a very good question, if somebody answer this we maybe have also the answer why you sometimes drop in a 1block gap and sometimes not

the precision problem, it was discovered a way long time before

theres video about it somewhere on corneum yt

isnt it tick dependent?

I see
there is 2 variations . 1st is your x position so x.03 and x.06 can cause diffrerent results . and 2nd is that for some reason some positions in map works differently in some scenarios .

in this case it doesn't have as much to do with precision
14:55
in the first case, you probably 'hit' the freeze one more time (for a total of two ticks probably) while you're still on the unhookable (edited)
14:55
then since you're frozen you can't hold [d] after first tick and you get ground friction applied on your tee so he drops short (edited)
14:57
in the second case you're in the freeze for less ticks while you're on the unhookable so you don't get as much ground friction (looks like you don't get any ground friction applied, so you're probably in the freeze for only one tick while you're on the unhookable)

thats just consequence of tw being 50 ticks per second

50 tps seems low
18:19
So why does the game look smooth?
Avatar
its not related to fps, tps (im assuming, i dont actually know) is how fast the game server updates so when you enter freeze for example thats the time it would take for the game to register you are in freeze
18:27
which would be why freezejumps etc are possible and weird niche thingsl ike what louis is explaining happens
Avatar
It's also the reason why you can't finish a map with a time that has an odd millisecond
18:49
I didn't know it affected the physics that much though, anywhere on that second tile seemed to have the same outcome

when the jank game is jank (no way)

yup, the rendering interpolates between every two ticks, so it smooths them out
