You seem to treat history as if it's just storytelling. While there is some aspect of that, respectable historical texts have multiple sources. And there are multiple texts about any given event. That's how we study history
well, because history is just storytelling, first of all, remember most of population couldn't write, unlike today.
Interpretations of certain event / things change over time, most often with new discoveries, but that's still interpretations.
And important thing people love throught the ages, are novels... some are based on history and deviate
