maybe tune the grenade and have them shoot their 90° bind left or right

that would imply having nade. having the 90 bind. having to understand you need to use it. having to understand the tune would. I have my share of experience on precise setups, and it's usually not enjoyable for the player when it's confusing. And design doesn't really fix it as no one plays with it.
