DDraceNetwork - mapping

Does anybody know what folder i need to put custom backgrounds in to import them into the map editor? mapres via %appdata% does not work for me

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DDraceNetwork\ddnet\data\mapres try putting it in here, assuming you are on windows and using steam. otherwise try to find the folder with the ddnet exec in it (edited)

Also is there any new way of easily testing a map? I used to put them into the server but this was quite tedious as i remember..

if you mean test like a ddrace map you can go to that map on ddrace servers, go into the editor and hit load current map or something similar

there are endless configs you could add to maps, however I think its best to focus on features that actually improve something, instead of random things

improving something in map leads to breaking compability with old format and making entire new system i think
