It would work but you get less time hooked on, so might not be able to get them all the way up. Need to try

You can force them into the corner using movement like so, but it's not really required. You're definitely timing the hammer / hook wrong if this specific one feels different to you

Or timing the jump wrong, you should hook then instantly hammer+jump together

If you add any delay after your hook, it'll feel difficult
