i played for years with vsync turned on and then when i finally turned it off it took me months to learn the new hammer timing xd

my ddnet friends all said that using vsync is bad because u loose some miliseconds timing..but i HAD to use vsync because of bad monitor. i never felt like i had a disadvantage.. i could perfectly wall hammer.

There is some (albeit industry backed) research showing there is benefit to 1000hz displays

The problem is, you might not gain more reason time. But our eyes can process this amount of information.. it makes it feel more smooth, even if it's just a tiny bit..

With resolution the issue is that the pixels are so small at reasonable screen sizes at reasonable viewing distances that it doesnt matter

so we have established that there is a limit for benificial pixels. it is curious to know if we would really make use of insanely high refresh rate... i feel like it's more suited for a fly or a jumping spider, or a university student on Adderall and redbull

If you abstract out the complicated and just test on real humans. In ideal conditions trained eyes can reliably see improvements even up to 500-600hz (edited)

It's easy to see the difference between screens of differing resolution. It's all about screen size and viewing distance

Guys, I'm getting 3000fps in the game. I want to play at fixed fps and low fps. I turn on Vsync, but I have a 165hz monitor, but it drops to 155fps. Why isn't it fixed at 165 fps? Can you help me? (edited)

There is no need to choose another options for that. You can use a command in the F1 menu: gfx_refresh_rate <fps cap of your choice> That way it caps your FPS without having to use any kind of other settings. Also Vulkan is just a renderer. (edited)

It hangs when I limit the fps without turning on v-sync. The game does not flow at all.
