"Finish a map without touching a single button!" - aka get dragged from start to finish
"10 seconds of hammerfly"
"Get shotgun bugged"
"Die 1 hour into a run"
Mr.Gh0s7
Yeah, I think you couldn't add achievements for ingame things like "Hammerfly" etc, because you wouldn't able to detect that.
Chunk the map, discard every pair that’s not in the same chunk. It’s not hard to optimize and I’m sure we can come up with sth better than something I came up with while waiting for coffee to brew

it only triggeres once and if we would have forum profiles linked to the leaderboards, we could check if your account reached n1 and send the achievement at login
13:19
Again, only if we could use the forum accounts for identification. (that means implementing a login system based on forum database)(edited)

well, in this logic, teeworlds is a game where you dedicate all your skills, time and effort to achieve incredible things, might as well give them a purpose to put their efforts to use, such as people who has been around for 10 years could finally put their efforts into use and climb in a more professional and fun way
Bomf
So so that makes you not the “true r1” no? I don’t understand (edited)
but the highest rank is not feasible, it's not like you cannot achieve it, it's like you have to spend more time and effort on finishing maps, than anybody else
13:28
it is truly meant for those, who their lives resolve around Teeworlds and we have many people like it
13:28
I think it could be fun even trying to reach certain achievements, involving n1
we could have an achievement before number one, about reaching top 100 and below for the first time
13:36
@-StormAx I don't think the conversation about achievements need to be brought back publicly, as in many people had stupid conversations about it, which had no base line
they are already rewarded by literally being on top of the online leaderboard. achievements are usually meant to be attainable by everyone who invests enough time and effort. finishing all ddnet maps is absolutely extreme
It's for motivation for those who already aim for top1

for the casual, they'll have all the achievements to get, so that they can be happy
for the veteran, those same achievements serve no purpose, cuz they already got it
its like you would say "any veteran super mario 64 player just has to invest time and effort into getting the any% wr"
having the record is already a huge enough reward. super mario 64 wouldn't be a better game if it had a achievement builtin for the record holder. also, getting wr is absolutely not "just hard for casuals"

Veterans have following achievement: play vanilla for the first time xd

Especially with harder maps like teestroyer that was just released
13:42
But I think that making achievements like these would be much better than just get rank 1 because it can be done by anyone

I think if achievements would be a thing, there must be a time scale for maps with different difficulty, the harder a map is, the more time it takes to be released, I have no idea if the majority would like that
It was public and made an entire mess which needed to be closed

yeah, at this case, link their ddnet profiles to their forum accounts
13:47
but then forum accounts require to have the player name listed in it too
13:48
I think in the client, if you login with a forum account and you have no listed names in it, you get to choose a name, like when you run teeworlds for the first time
It's not a joke, but a sad reality, that whatever account system they choose to do, there might be a bigger vulnerability for users and if they cannot fix it in time, then many accounts can be compromised
13:51
they took the easy way out
