Hey people! I mapped a dummy map and just wanted to test it with JimmyJazz via Trashmap Sever. Every time I start the server with this map, the server crashes. On LAN I can play the map wonderfully and I can also test other maps on Trashmap but not this one. What could be the reason?

@Voxel Hook's edge is cut out too, a 32x32 space is not being used, thus cutting out the edge, since it touches that 32x32 place, I'll post a fix on Teeworlds Data regarding the game.png template (edited)

not rly, it can be used for doing one thing instead of two, such as only using grenade shield instead of using a normal shield, then adding a weapon next to it

It's not really as important as you make it, we control the client we control the server, we can add as many tiles as we want, space in game.png isn't as premium as it used to be

also the edits from game.png. Once I set everything up on Teeworlds Data, I'll go and download all the gameskins, edit them to fit the latest version, fix cropping which caused by the previous template and update the teeskins database

the idea for weapon shields have their own purpose, but people don't map with them because of their mapping styles, same shit with new hookthrough which is supposed to make mapping easier

I think your thinking is clouded by the amount of experience you have. If you were talking about something like the old hookthrough I can understand you being so matter of fact, but a new tile that doesn't have any bugs with it always being bad practice sounds like insane talk to me

it's not good mapping practice to use more special fancy tiles than are needed, there are usually ways to fix all map problems in clean and basic ways

For beginner mappers, showing the weapon on the shield can get you an idea on what it erases off of you. Ingame, you are expected to remove that specific type without the fear of losing the other ones. In mapping, once we get people to utilize it in their maps, they can pull off pretty puzzles, more intuitive solo parts and better transition parts, which can revolutionize ways to create parts

then, for the sake of the argument, you could point to a specifc part in one of the maps. determine if you think that the part wouldn't be possible in a nice way without the weapon shield. Ravie/Pipou can then judge if they deem that part to be a nice addition to map-making. note that pointing to a specific part (not a map as a whole) is important, since without it, you are still only really arguing with words

there are some that effect gameplay, there's one in Red Japan that can skip 2 parts similar to the one shown above ^
