u should also be able to save the map with ctrl+s

nightly is the same as Steam beta. Do you use normal steam version or beta?

ok, you can try using the beta version, where this bug is hopefully fixed

also, you should be able to use Ctrl+Shift+S to save the map even when the cursor is stuck
