Hm, systemd vs openrc is settled in my mind, so I never have to think about it. But my hate of systemd is never forgotten

Some people claim that ai is stealing real artists' work
20:11
Because thier images are used in learning process
20:11
I think that's totally stupid
20:12
I can look at some art and create similar thing too

Eh, I find this kind of revelation to be quite pointless. Yes your problems are small compared to hers, but thinking like that you'd have to worry about nothing

There are always bigger problems then yours. You still have to worry about your own ones. I'm not starving, just having food on my plate will never be as significant to me as someone who has experienced hunger

My stance on AI art is that the cat is out of the bag. The models are trained and out in the open. They can barely be discerned from "real" art. Everyone just has to suck it up and adapt to the post ai art world

This is I guess the only feasible demand, but I'm not sure where one would even begin. After a model is generated, the source material just isn't there to detect. How would we even enforce rules on ai training material?

Abolishing copyright overall would I guess be almost impossible

Exactly, the brain is extremely contextful. You can't just think of your life as a subset of the experiences of all of humankind. You think in context of your own experiences and maybe the experiences of people close to you. That's about as far as you can reasonably go without becoming a monk
20:24
You think of problems in terms of your life and the life of those around you.

I understand what you're saying, and it's true that we all have different challenges and struggles in life but for me, acknowledging and being grateful for the good things in my life helps me to put my own problems into perspective and approach them with a more positive attitude. it doesn't mean that I don't worry about things or try to avoid dealing with them, but it does help me to keep things in perspective and not get too overwhelmed

I'm saying the nuclear capacity you decomissioned back then could have been used right now to offset the loss of natural gas. As in the hydro renewables germany built didnt require the decomissionning of nuclear. You could have built renewables and kept the nuclear capacity

In other euronews, did you see trenitalia started operating outside italy?
Avatar
its been operating in france for more than a year

It's interesting to see the free market sort of work for once. Competition on the high speed lines really seems to be bringing down cost of travel and these huge state entities have never really liked eachother so they will never become a oligopoly 😄

They are also operating in spain now, under the iryo brand, and they are also trying to secure funding to make a highspeed corridor from milan all the way to spain
22:40
Tho sncf really doesnt want to upgrade the coast line. I wonder if I'll see it within my lifetime 😛

ye sncf sucks
22:41
im happy they cant abuse their monopoly anymore

Such a shame too. I live right across the border and it takes the same time for me to take a train from turin to nice vs turin to paris
22:42
Just because sncf refuses to upgrade the damn coastal line 😄

its "planned"

Atleast they sort of agree on the turin lyon base tunnel. Tho there italian people absolutely hate the idea because it will be too close to some village or other pepeW

planes have a real advantage there

you just have to negotiate with two airports

Yeah, much less ground infra needed for planes

I've been really enjoying having pretty great trains in italy. I hope it really becomes usable across europe in this decade. It's such a pleasant way to travel

All public transit is free in luxembourg starting this year iirc. Tho I hear their issue hasn’t really been fares but consistency
22:49
spain can get cheap gas from south
Avatar
You can’t make some of the richest people on earth take public transit that won’t arrive on time for their important business meeting

but france blocks distributing it

cuz they ofc profit a lot from being a energy exporter

now that the public got a taste of it, it's now on the politicians to get a longer-term solution ^^

In italy they keep electing whoever promises any kind of change, no one changes anything, it’s the most bizarre political climate I’ve ever been in and I’m from Turkey 😛

in spain, the 2 parties that win are controlled by "ibex-35", since they promise favours and a top seat at their companies once the politician retires
22:55
so they will never do laws that go against that group of companies

Solar sun tax in Spain has now been abolished which will ultimately boost the country’s energy transition. The Spanish Cabinet has approved a royal decree, which introduces a package of urgent measures to boost the country’s energy transition.
23:07
The term “impuesto al sol” or solar tax is a toll or tax that the authorities ask to pay for the costs of distribution and maintenance of the electricity network in Spain. According to this law, those who use solar panels have to pay extra taxes, the so-called “impuesto al sol”.
23:07
im not inventing
23:09
The new law regarding the taxation of photovoltaic systems in Spain requires that households operating this technology pay grid fees in addition to a ´sun tax´. Furthermore, it regulates the selling of electricity from private households. The fines for not complying with the restrictions can reach a height of €60 million. However, installations smaller than 10kW and specific locations are exempt from this law.
23:09
xd
23:09
this is abolished now iirc
23:09
but its crazy to think it existed
23:09
The new law prohibits PV systems up to 100 kW from selling electricity. Instead, their owners are required to donate the extra electricity to the grid for free Systems over 100 kW must register in order to sell electricity in the spot market for the excess power they generate For PV systems up to 100 kW, the owner of the installation must be the owner of the contract with the electricity company Community ownership is prohibited altogether for all sizes of self-consumption systems Permissions need to be obtained before installation takes place. Every grid-connected electricity system needs authorization from its electricity supplier and the Spanish Government. Fines for breach
