its a variation of maps. most maps are harder difficulty in this months releases. unfortunately DDNet seems to be pushing harder maps for release, since forever actually. Novice and lower moderate seem to be completely uninteresting for the testers. I'd love to see a long novice map or very long easy moderate map. Testers don't seem to remember how full servers get with big t0 easy maps.

i dont think they realize either the impact of how being unable to do one day of the advent discourages people from caring about it at all afterwards, which leads to less people trying and then that makes it harder for people who do want to do the event because nobody around cares anymore that's what it has felt like to me, anyway

Classical reaction of someone who know that they did a bad thing, but also was too lazy to explain the fact that 1. they didn't check who's running (or doesn't care) 2.they want to play with the same people without the need of changing servers

I think an issue with new moderates and novices is that they don't have that much room for variation

You could argue that's the same with new hh maps being identical, but because moderate and novice naps have to be easier, I don't see alot of room for innovation without making things too difficult

This doesn't mean that it's impossible to make new and interesting novice and moderate maps, but they are a lot harder to make fit into the difficulty that they should be without being too generic

Higher difficulty just allows for a bit more freedom and fun for mapping, allowing for more interesting parts that wouldn't otherwise be possible in novice or mod because of the difficulty it requires no?

But yet the difficulty rating of recent maps seems a little high no (not that it matters one bit actually) ? Rating in itself is hard to establish without a set of cleared rules as to how it is rated. Game being team based with teams ranging from 2 to 60 players, maps are probably graded based on locked 2 players team. I feel T0 team is more powerful for the average tee, and is not concerned by the original grade of the map. Otherwise I agree higher difficulty allows for more freedom, because by design you can find every possible puzzle/move in there, whereas novice is limited to novice movements

I wanted to re-rate all the maps with the arrival of season 2 but it won't happen for now. It's very ambitious and the difficulty/rating is ever changing as the average skill raises (edited)

If that's something that it will be done in the future, I would suggest to focus on the novice maps first, since it's where new players start playing the game (It's discouraging to struggle with low rated faily maps). The average skill raises, but a new player in front of the game will always be a new player

It's still in game, isnt gone I think u dont have it downloaded locally, so if no one in server doesnt have the skin, maybe u cant pick it in the skin browser, but if u write manually defatulYoda in the skin name u will get it C:

Oh that's good to know. Should the maps being team-lock, I guess the rating would have a more impactful meaning. Obviously skill inflation is hitting niche game with people getting better and better

you'll need some experience using photoshop/gimp/some kind of graphics software that can edit PNGs. Copy game.png from the ddnet folder where the .exe is, to %APPDATA%\ddnet\assets\game\, or %APPDATA%\teeworlds\assets\game if that's what you have, open up the game.png from the %APPDATA% folder, and manually resize each of the crosshairs to the size you want. Each weapon has it's own crosshair next to it. Once you've made a change, choose the right image from the in-game settings in "assets -> game", and click the refresh button in the corner
