nearly a cold storage I am looking for. but I rarely have to download/upload the stuff there to something. so there is a bit of access I need. being accessible through the internet or something like FTP would be perfect.
Uh, I wouldn't know that actually. But I pay somewhere between 1-10β¬ for the server in energy/per month. Internet access is the most expensive thing. But you can imagine if it wasn't about the internet access I have to pay. It would cost me at most 10β¬ + 4.20β¬/12TB (funny number, but 250β¬/5/12 and rounding up does that) each month. Given I don't even need the drives to really "run". Making them last more than the guaranteed lifetime. Only spin up when I need a file on the file server. Which happens rarely because files on the internet don't get taken down. And in case of a disk failure, I can send it in for them to recover everything or redownload the media that would be on the internet already.
So yea. Hard to find an online service that spares me all the hassle of my upload bot that is cheaper than what I can achieve alone at my home. But there must be something cheap like that because I see sites pop up that offer unlimited storage for videos for example, that you can even earn with because of ads. Not sure if the company gounlimited.to addresses for the cloud storage is genuine, but at least you can't find anything about it. We used to abuse unlimited google drives and store petabytes there even before Linus tech tips did a video about it.(edited)
