IMHO operating at scale isnt easy to administrate. If you have 1 or 2 servers, thats fair enough to handle. Your playerbase is mostly from a specific region ( SA, NA, EU, AS ). But if you host all around the world you have all different kinds of local difficulties
Avatar
my experience on KoG was always good. there are ofc a few ego players and blockers but you find those on ddnet too the only thing I dislike is that players don't bother to hammer tees they save on platforms happy

Player related behaviour is and always will be unpredictable. I dont control nor wanna control anyone. Every human being is welcomed to play, excluded the ddosers, cheaters and non-fair players. There are known problems and local difficulties between countries & so on, but this is political stuff, which should be out of this game. Gaming is IMHO neutral to any political situation. Play fair & if you dislike others, just ignore & mute them.
12:45
And sure, even moderators have different pov's on all kinds of situations. They are doing that in their spare time (thanks to every moderator in this game) so blaming them isnt the way to go. Community is asked for action at this point πŸ™‚ (edited)

check the AGPL license
14:51
it protects from whats happening here
14:51
The GNU Affero General Public License is a modified version of the ordinary GNU GPL version 3. It has one added requirement: if you run a modified program on a server and let other users communicate with it there, your server must also allow them to download the source code corresponding to the modified version running there.
14:51
The purpose of the GNU Affero GPL is to prevent a problem that affects developers of free programs that are often used on servers.
>
Suppose you develop and release a free program under the ordinary GNU GPL. If developer D modifies the program and releases it, the GPL requires him to distribute his version under the GPL too. Thus, if you get a copy of his version, you are free to incorporate some or all of his changes into your own version.
>
But suppose the program is mainly useful on servers. When D modifies the program, he might very likely run it on his own server and never release copies. Then you would never get a copy of the source code of his version, so you would never have the chance to include his changes in your version. You may not like that outcome.
>
Using the GNU Affero GPL avoids that outcome. If D runs his version on a server that everyone can use, you too can use it. Assuming he has followed the license requirement to let the server's users download the source code of his version, you can do so, and then you can incorporate his changes into your version. (If he hasn't followed it, you have your lawyer complain to him.)

4. Freedom is good.
>
Hackers are naturally anti-authoritarian. Anyone who can give you orders can stop you from solving whatever problem you're being fascinated by β€” and, given the way authoritarian minds work, will generally find some appallingly stupid reason to do so. So the authoritarian attitude has to be fought wherever you find it, lest it smother you and other hackers.
>
(This isn't the same as fighting all authority. Children need to be guided and criminals restrained. A hacker may agree to accept some kinds of authority in order to get something he wants more than the time he spends following orders. But that's a limited, conscious bargain; the kind of personal surrender authoritarians want is not on offer.)
>
Authoritarians thrive on censorship and secrecy. And they distrust voluntary cooperation and information-sharing β€” they only like β€˜cooperation’ that they control. So to behave like a hacker, you have to develop an instinctive hostility to censorship, secrecy, and the use of force or deception to compel responsible adults. And you have to be willing to act on that belief.

1. The world is full of fascinating problems waiting to be solved.
>
Being a hacker is lots of fun, but it's a kind of fun that takes lots of effort. The effort takes motivation. Successful athletes get their motivation from a kind of physical delight in making their bodies perform, in pushing themselves past their own physical limits. Similarly, to be a hacker you have to get a basic thrill from solving problems, sharpening your skills, and exercising your intelligence.
>
If you aren't the kind of person that feels this way naturally, you'll need to become one in order to make it as a hacker. Otherwise you'll find your hacking energy is sapped by distractions like sex, money, and social approval.
>
(You also have to develop a kind of faith in your own learning capacity β€” a belief that even though you may not know all of what you need to solve a problem, if you tackle just a piece of it and learn from that, you'll learn enough to solve the next piece β€” and so on, until you're done.) 2. No problem should ever have to be solved twice.
>
Creative brains are a valuable, limited resource. They shouldn't be wasted on re-inventing the wheel when there are so many fascinating new problems waiting out there.
>
To behave like a hacker, you have to believe that the thinking time of other hackers is precious β€” so much so that it's almost a moral duty for you to share information, solve problems and then give the solutions away just so other hackers can solve new problems instead of having to perpetually re-address old ones.
>
Note, however, that "No problem should ever have to be solved twice." does not imply that you have to consider all existing solutions sacred, or that there is only one right solution to any given problem. Often, we learn a lot about the problem that we didn't know before by studying the first cut at a solution. It's OK, and often necessary, to decide that we can do better. What's not OK is artificial technical, legal, or institutional barriers (like closed-source code) that prevent a good solution from being re-used and force people to re-invent wheels.
>
(You don't have to believe that you're obligated to give all your creative product away, though the hackers that do are the ones that get most respect from other hackers. It's consistent with hacker values to sell enough of it to keep you in food and rent and computers. It's fine to use your hacking skills to support a family or even get rich, as long as you don't forget your loyalty to your art and your fellow hackers while doing it.) 3. Boredom and drudgery are evil.
>
Hackers (and creative people in general) should never be bored or have to drudge at stupid repetitive work, because when this happens it means they aren't doing what only they can do β€” solve new problems. This wastefulness hurts everybody. Therefore boredom and drudgery are not just unpleasant but actually evil.
>
To behave like a hacker, you have to believe this enough to want to automate away the boring bits as much as possible, not just for yourself but for everybody else (especially other hackers).
>
(There is one apparent exception to this. Hackers will sometimes do things that may seem repetitive or boring to an observer as a mind-clearing exercise, or in order to acquire a skill or have some particular kind of experience you can't have otherwise. But this is by choice β€” nobody who can think should ever be forced into a situation that bores them.)

Dear Ryozuki, I know you may not be convinced that licenses suck, but hear me out. Licenses are often seen as a necessary evil - a means to control access to certain products or services and protect intellectual property. But the truth is, they can be incredibly limiting and restrictive. For starters, licenses often come with a host of complicated rules and regulations that can be difficult to understand and follow. They can also be expensive, requiring regular payments or fees in order to maintain access to the licensed material. Furthermore, licenses can limit your ability to use the material in the way that you want. They may restrict how you can share it, modify it, or even access it. This can be particularly frustrating if you want to use the material in a way that is beneficial or innovative, but are unable to do so because of the restrictive nature of the license. But perhaps the biggest problem with licenses is that they can stifle creativity and innovation. By controlling access to certain material, licenses can limit the pool of potential users and creators, and prevent new and exciting ideas from being developed. This ultimately hurts not only individuals and small businesses, but society as a whole. So Ryozuki, I hope you can see why licenses suck. They may seem like a necessary evil, but in reality, they can be incredibly limiting and restrictive. Let's work together to find better ways to protect intellectual property and promote creativity and innovation.
