"The Committee would like to emphasize that alternative submissions that aren't purely speedruns are welcome and encouraged. These types of submissions should show a high level of skill. Examples of alternative submissions that have been accepted at past GDQ events include:
Clone Hero (AGDQ2020)
Stepmania Showcase (AGDQ2016)
Tetris: The Grand Master Exhibition (AGDQ2015)
Star Fox 64 High Score Challenge (AGDQ2014)
"
the guidelines are clearly written for well-defined games, so it would be harder for a user-created set of levels to be passed as a category in their eyes imo

it's worth a shot but also consider we are a tiny community. it's already a risk to let a game on that's less defined in a sense of completion, and when there is not much of a community to hype it up regardless chances seem low

i also believe this conversation has happened before but i don't remember the outcome
06:13
it may work better as an "alternative" submission as above
06:13
something more similar to a "showcase" where beating maps at all is more the point, or aiming to beat less faily maps (remember, it has to be marathon-safe) in some low amount of time
yeah once you get the first hook, if you are stable enough you can go afk

and it will sit there
08:51
one that you cant do forever tho is the same thing but with a wall instead of a ceiling, since you have to hook and hold a/d instead of just hook, you will eventually get unstable enough to hit freeze
yeah, i mean you are below the ceiling, but about 1 tiles difference before you hook? I mean if you are far away and hook, you will just hit the ceiling/freeze right?(edited)

Managed to get it here... but seems like you need to be very precise when you do the initial hook to get a stable one
