I completely disagree with the approach to these rerates, making Sunny Side Up a 3 star and the base for all other ratings seems so inherently flawed to me. Unless you plan on rerating every map in every category these rerates seem so out of touch. Especially moving over 30+ maps to moderate with seemingly no consideration for what that will skew in the moderate category. Just because the current testers are too busy freebasing coke to figure out how to rate a novice map doesn't mean the rerates have to be bad as well. Just an example, on your spreadsheet Future_Race is recommended to be moved to Moderate 1 or 2, for the reasoning: it's a complete gores map. Meanwhile, there is already a gores map in the Moderate category, Zaiross-Gores which is much more difficult and is only a 1 star Moderate. A lot of the reasonings I see in the spreadsheet are about how it's "frustrating for noobs," or "no noob would ever pass." Not every novice map needs to be an impossible to fail boring line with no unfreeze.
incredible analysis! you fail to realize that moderate is still not well rated itself, but only novice is planned for a rerate currently because it affects the most players negatively. how many new players have you played with? how many have you taught? have you watched noobs fail? do you know what they often fail to? your only argument here is that it makes an easier gores map the same difficulty as a currently mod 1 gores map, which is harder. that does not provide any feedback on if the rerating is warranted and instead focused on the rest of the categories, which has already been discussed as well. if you would like to provide real feedback instead of calling my rerates "bad" you can do so in the spreadsheet (edited)
