DDNet 16.2 is supposed to release in 1 week, assuming no bad bugs are found. Please test the Release Candidate to prevent problems being only discovered after release. Report bugs in the bugs channel or directly on Github: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/pull/5416 Windows 32bit: https://ddnet.tw/downloads/DDNet-16.2-rc7-win32.zip Windows 64bit: https://ddnet.tw/downloads/DDNet-16.2-rc7-win64.zip Linux x86: https://ddnet.tw/downloads/DDNet-16.2-rc7-linux_x86.tar.xz Linux x86-64: https://ddnet.tw/downloads/DDNet-16.2-rc7-linux_x86_64.tar.xz macOS (arm64 & x86-64): https://ddnet.tw/downloads/DDNet-16.2-rc7-macos.dmg You can also test the release candidate in Steam by clicking on Settings -> Properties -> Betas and opting into the Release Candidates. This will automatically update you to a new release candidate when it is available, and to the next release when no new candidate is available. So you can always leave this setting enabled to help us test new releases earlier. See Github change for included changes, ideally test their behaviour specifically. But just playing as you do normally also helps. The highlights are:
  • [Client] DDNet HUD [c0d3d3v]
  • [Client] Controller support [Robyt3]
  • [Client] Add community skin option [Jupeyy]
  • [Client] Prediction of switch state toggles [trml]
  • [Client] Use STUN to check network status when connecting [heinrich5991]
  • [Server] HTTP masterserver registering [heinrich5991]
You can also contribute translations for the release, see the current state of translations: https://ddnet.tw/news/client-translations/
(edited)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yMMBLSbS2cOSYsbIMkDZpMLaV6k930mXj5yVZF0Uuaw/edit#gid=0 If you are a mapper with maps released on DDNet, please add Time Checkpoints to your new and existing maps! This helps speedrunners comparing to their best time. We have added this as a new rule for new maps, and are trying to cover existing maps. It should be easiest for mappers to add Time Checkpoints on their own maps. We will also add a /timecp <playername> command so you can see checkpoint times of another player: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/pull/5372
Update on Project Checkpoint all the Maps: Progress is good, thanks to @ano all race maps now have time checkpoint tiles! Huge thanks to @bencie, @cheeser0613, @Tsin (DDmaX) for working on many maps in other categories too!
