DDNet client has a multitude of commands and settings that can be bound to nearly any key or mouse button. You can enter commands into the console, which by default is accessed by pressing F1.

Hey! I have an issue with my gameplay. So, yesterday I was messing with some skins in my assets folder and then some graphics settings. I then restarted the client to get all the changes in action. Since then my gameplay has been super rough and choppy. I've tried putting all settings back into default, I've changed resolution, reinstalled the game, deleted all skins/assets and tried different shaders. Nothing seems to be working. Hoped it would somehow fix itself during the night but now as I join the game it's still as bad. I can describe it as if I'm playing with V-Sync on constantly (also toggling V-Sync has no effect. For worse nor better). Anyone have any idea what could be wrong or what I can try to make it go back to normal? (edited)

@ILilCookie have you tried deleting settings_ddnet.cfg? (back it up first if you're gonna try this)

have you actually deleted settings_ddnet.cfg? that file is not near the game, it's in %APPDATA%\Teeworlds on windows and in ~/.teeworlds/ on linux

so the problem is that the video produced by the ddnet client has worse quality than what you see on the screen?

Yup, deleted it. Aswell as the steam files. Accessed through run - %appdata%/Teeworlds

@ILilCookie you could try switching between the Vulkan and OpenGL renderer in graphics settings, also try setting gfx_gl_major to 3 or 2 or 1 and see what works best (restart after every change)

also make sure cl_refresh_rate and gfx_refresh_rate aren't too low

@Pulsar You are indeed the first one that uses deactivated teleporters I have run the ddnet_emptytele.rs script on all our maps, I attached the result. Only your map contains some of these, the other maps contain only some strange not using tile ids in the tele layer.

That doesn't really help, all configurations are stored in %appdata%\Teeworlds

I deleted all files before trying the new client. I'll check if there are any issues in other games. Give me a couple of minutes

Also maybe consider posting your specs

Tried Minecraft with no issues, League of legends also fine, aswell as Runescape 3 and OSRS

So I've checked my refresh rate, both the cl and gfx. Both are set to 0. And gfx_gl_major had no effect.

Consider limiting your refresh rate, unlocked fps isn't very healthy for your pc

Any recommended limit or just go by feel?

I usually go with double of what my monitors refresh rate is

what i generally heard was discord causes lags anti virus or similar software cause lags use cable instead of battery(for laptop) update to latest drivers use latest windows, restart windows over "restart" button(not shutdown -> start) clean ur computer (dust etc.) (made a friends computer lag hard) make sure ur ssd/hdd is not too full

Does increasing the page file size help at all? AFAIK windows takes care of that quite well

the best is its never used(e.g. enough ram) but once its used it might slow down your computer bcs it loads from it

It's not really lag, It's just "un-smooth". The middle part of the screen is pretty much fine, just a bit rough. But the bottom 30% is lagging behind, 0.5 blocks. So it's a cut going through the screen. Same on the top side. And, as previously mentioned. Choppy, "laggy", rough gameplay

Tried messing with V-Sync already. Thought that was the problem. But enabling/disabling V-Sync has no effect. It's like I'm always on V-Sync or something

u can see if vsync is enabled, cl_showfps 1 will show 60fps (or 144 if u use 144hz monitor)

There is no gameplay difference for me in V-sync being on/off. For better nor worse. cl_showfps gives console value 0. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong there

Well my fps is now at 288. Got recommended to have twice my monitor hz refresh rate. Normally my fps is atleast at 900. Fluctuated a bit but between 900-1500
