@tela Not sure what GreyFox had in mind. If there would be some magic rewritten ddrace released to community before ddmax then we (DDracemaX) wouldn't use some old not maintained ddrace made by 3DA (bcs for what reason we would have to do it).
In 2010 we started our own mod bcs there was no ddrace maintained(our mod was based on 3DA code). GreyFox showed up and I started talking with him and we gave him our ddmax code to start working on. Then he told us that code needs a complete rewrite and he started working on that with BlackTee.
New ddrace mod was released in april 2011 but stable version that we started thinking to switch to was in may or june and in august/september DDracemaX 2.0 was released.
From my point of view there are only 3 cases:
1. GreyFox dont remember correctly.
or
2. GreyFox maybe did make some special ddrace mod in 2009 of which nobody rly knew and if it exist then it was probably only used on his own servers.
or
3. He's talking about some "FreezeMod", I don't remember the name (have no idea who created that).
(Something like DDRace but with only Freeze and maybe 2 speeders or some other features - something like this did exist in 2009 but nobody rly used it bcs of lack of features which DDrace from 3DA had).

ya, well he definitely seemed to be fuzzy on details and just said something like "ah i thought ddmax came after my update", and you had specific dates so I think you are probably correct. Just wanted to see if anybody else had any memory lol
ive actually thought about that before, i think if they actually removed all the unintended "features" / bugs the game would be much worse, much more stale (edited)
ya. I've always wondered what exactly was intentional design by teeworlds devs and what just happened to work. Like hammerflying. That could be done in Teeworlds before ddrace right? Hooking somebody through a corner, hammering through a wall etc. Just from looking at what vanilla games are like, these kind of things don't really seem necessary so I figured they were just "bugs" I guess, and ppl started making maps based around them. I really have no clue though since I wasn't there. Wonder who the first person to ever realize u could hammerfly was, or the first ever map with corner drag parts. I wish all that stuff was documented!
