High Quality is supported inside the client, why decline it, because of the basic requirements?
currently the database only supports 256x128, even if it gets fixed I don't see why anything above 512x256 would be allowed since it would be just a waste
An appreciation of effort in their part to make high quality Assets should be considered, when comes to visual changes. Vanilla Teeworlds proved to be better with higher quality skins / Assets, and should the other Assets (gameskin, emoticons, particles, etc) follow the same path.

I'd be glad to have a high quality version of graphics and skins, but it has to be consistent to look good, and we probably have to keep the current ones possible because some people are playing on potatoes with 128 MB RAM
honestly most people don't notice or care about a little amount of upscaling, and I don't think 8k displays are anywhere near common yet so 512x256 should be plenty

as long as the textures aren't getting upscaled it really doesn't matter what resolution they are, so they should be as low as possible to not waste performance
2 of them existed, Teeworlds Adventures, low budget MMORPG with 0.7 port too, but failed cuz of the developer's lack of motivation
and currently developed MMOTee, a really well developed RPG with open source libraries to further increase developement
Yes, I agree that Vector art is the best for customisation and editing, but why use low quality textures for DDNet, whenever it is outdated for 6 years now?

for 6 years, there were plenty of optimisations for both compression and texture rendering, the performance nowadays won't be hurt by the Assets we provide
