Matodor suggested using the player's current skin + a frozen layer on the front. It seems to me that can create a special ice texture, and put it on the tee, like ice, during freezing.

basically just show a layer of "freeze" on top of the current skin. which could of course be customized just like x_ninja

this would be relatively straightforward to implement. skins are already composed of layers so the existing system for rendering them could be tweaked to support it
