i bet he is on windows 32bit and its a huge map or smth xd

but i also dunno what a checkpoint-game is

it's a shame that I never managed to debug that 32bit issue even with hours of building memory mapping tools

I'm sure with a custom allocator someone more crafty than us could fit all we do in the address space

i'd still say alloc 10% of the total memory is sane XD

The part that was crashing on 32 bit can be rewritten to make it fit btw, you are technically keeping one vector on stack too long, I think(tm) with a bit of restructuring we could get rid of that momentary peak

but remember that same buffer will also be part of the GPU memory

but iirc the igpu reserves it's memory waaay before any of this, no?

We should rewrite this in assembly so we can construct the buffer in-place where we have space for the vector

if you are on a intel GPU of 6th gen or higher tell me, else just try copy and paste: gfx_opengl_major 1 in F1 ingame console and restart the game
