u have to port forward

dont need to pf if he's using hamachi, his friend would need to join his PCs IP address or something like that

If you are considering using hamachi, I'd suggest Radmin instead. I'll leave it at that.

Hamachi is just plently limited in comparison, and requires tweaking to your internal system settings that... it just shouldnt.

Radmin only requires you to whitelist it on some AVs, the Firewall usually already accepts it, and in worst case scenario, where things just don't setup right, a simple uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot solves all issues I ever came across. We got it to run on Win7/Win8 and Win10, and of around 100 people, none ever ended up not being able to use it. And noone ever needed to portforward. (edited)

To be open on that, I built a (sadly mostly dispersed by now) Discord community around using Radmin for Warcraft 3 after many failed experiments with other MP solutions for that, and it made me somewhat mad to see that somehow hamachi of all things is topping lists when people search for Vlan for Videogames :/

the way i found out about radmin was that i was playing terraria (with the same friend) and i have no idea how to set up multiplayer so i used hamachi and it worked. but like 3 days later it stopped working so i got looking for an alternative and found radmin. and its woking pretty nice

discord is just missing support for threads, so it's chaotic when multiple conversations happen at once

I have used community chat-app that supported threads... it was even bigger mess
