Guys, im new to mapping. Im watching tutorials where people test they're map straight away. How do we do that ?

can use lan server and access editor while in game, then reload in f2

Is there a way to refresh the map fast ? After doing some modification in the editor, do i just go back to my server and write "sv_map mapname" again ?

@JonnyGeek or open a trashmap server. Not sure what the website is and if there are no ddos attacks tho. But it is something like trashmap.ddnet.tw

you map your gameplay in the game layer, for the visuals you need to create a new tile layer / with a tileset/mapres and redraw them

basicaly you first create the gameplay in entities and if your happy with it you create the design

the gameplay relevant layers are dark gray marked, everything else (in the lighter grey layers is for visuals only

its just easyer if you separate sameish things together (i usualy do solid group (ground, hookthrough,hookables etc.), transparent (freeze, signs, ddnet tiles etc.) and mid / background

They pay for the Chile server anyways so apart from some maintenance work, no You can contribute to the funding of the servers here https://ddnet.tw/funding/ (edited)

@timakro Our Chile server is pretty much running at its limit with the resources and the next upgrade is about 3 times the cost, not sure it's worth it
