It's a good setting for beginners, but yea, probably shouldn't be on by default, there used to be an f1 command to enable it, but I don't think there is anymore? So trying to explain to beginners how to enable it is a bit annoying. (Or the command isn't as obvious to find anymore?)

People learn a lot from watching other players do parts, keypresses allow you to mimic easier
Uh, probably not.. It makes people teleport around like crazy, sure, it can be kind of annoying to try and figure out the delay on the hook, but making the game look glitchy might be bad(edited)
Can we enjoy for a moment that we got hundreds of new people on teeworlds/ddnet? Wasn't really online in the last days and this just seems like a dream waiting for this so so long .. awesome .. thank you all who made this true
@torskyy rename that map to something easier to type, maybe learntoplay.map, then put it in the folder with ur server, in the /data/maps folder and /data/maps7 folder
@deen now that there are so many players on ddnet and more people are coming because of release on steam, please dont make ddnet 5 euro per month. I know you will get rich but think about the poor players
@deen plz put antiping by default, tees teleporting is way better than constant visual delay with the hooks etc
And nowadays I'm sure most of the people use it
This is not a shooter, instead it's something of a big online co-op game where you're all trying to reach the finish line of every map. It's not a Fall Guys situation either, you're not trying win over everyone else. Instead it's just about finishing. That can be together as you help each other or alone—whatever goes really.
There's even a little emote wheel you can bring up, to give someone a bunch of hearts for helping you or other such speech-bubble styled emotes to convey what you need to other players. Especially useful, since they might not speak your language so it's a nice little touch to have.
DDraceNetwork
Random platformer i found while exploring new releases in steam.
Very unique cooperative gameplay, with extraordinary difficulty that reminds me iwbtg fangames.
And it's open source mod to an open source game.
@Tadzio there is no fixing ddos, we'd need huge uplinks and major reworks of the networking code to even get close to absorbing and dropping this much traffic efficiently
i tried some tests with multi threading and didnt see a huge amount of benefit, i mean, it helped a tiny bit and maybe i did it wrong but the biggest effect of the attack is saturating whatever code is responsible for recieving and sending packets throughout the whole system
14:13
whether the process itself is split into 2 threads or not dosent seem to have much effect on this
Well offloading establishing new connections to a core and making sure the traffic is passed to the correct core with an eBPF filter in XDP can help immensely
true it sounds good but what i seemed to notice during testing similar things was that even if u can separate these two loops, there is still the bottleneck of having to recieve and send all of the traffic
14:20
no matter how many threads u have theres only 1 network card/port to use
14:21
and if it is busy recieving a million packets of junk per second then legitimate packets sometmes fail to make it to the rx queue
@noby that's why I said XDP with a good network card the card already has more than one queue itself AND with XDP you are basically doing the routing to the correct core in the network driver
imagine ddosing for no apparent socioeconomic reason to a game that has only good faith, it's data is open to everyone and generally just wants people to have fun
@jao there is a novice map in submit-maps which doesn't get on the test servers, can we somehow create a pipeline for that map? that map was tested already? can't we just release it?(edited)
@Ryozuki the more players the better. doesnt matter what mod they chose in the beginning. They might switch mod after some times if they like the game in general. so I think its best to show them all the different sides of teeworlds
@louis it seems good so far but one thing is, antiping will not make it smoother, it will actually do the opposite, but the positions of all the entities on screen will be more accurate and adjusted for delay so it is still worth using
1.cfg contains
bind mouse 1 "+fire; +toggle cl_dummy_hammer 1 0"
bind mouse3 exec 2.cfg
2.cfg contains
bind mouse1 +fire
bind mouse3 exec 1.cfg
Save these 2 files to ur DDNet Folder, open client and write exec 1.cfg in f1 to make it work forever
towards the discussion about chat restrictions/filtrer/etc., we had yesterday. I spend a lot of time on noob servers and i dont think we even need it. Even most trolls seem to behave in terms of language on noob servers
@Foxis more wrong, people are not getting paid, we just add little things when they are good for the game, but not everything should be in it, would make it more complicated
You know what i like about this. Since the average skilllevel decreased by 80% i basically got better compared to average/ i am good again instead of bad without playing.
