Whoever JJ is, he has nice taste. GunZ could be the only game I can think of that has a higher skill ceiling than ddrace

I also wish we had a tutorial but it wasn't happening. The collection of maps in the perma novice servers should hopefully be enough to retain atleast some new players

As i started very early with the game, anytime a new command got added, i had to put it on a free key, no system in my binds for f3 and f4 i've got b and n
I'm thinking I do this sort of outline:
Overview (what game is about)
How to navigate client, optimal settings (antiping, how to follow players)
Basic gameplay mechanics (talk about what sort of things maps have)
Different tiles (hookthru, stoppers, etc)
Basic movement
Basic dragging
Basic teamplay mechanics
Weapons

@Ryozuki doesn't work for me, I see more but still not on the borders
anyway as a regular teeworlds player I could not know about DDNet even. And once looking for a my game streams I can discover DDNet. So it is not that bad idea to stay in teeworlds category I believe(edited)
@Ryozuki hahaha imagine not knowing how the pts system works, and then finding out that its somewhere on some specific site thats not even linked in the game and you need to scroll all the way down
Best would be a tut that does this dim thingy and shows what's important, and then some button that shows it all again, the thing is, if they go super fast through the tut, they still passively internalize the "flow" of ui navigation, which is way better than having to read a bunch and find yourself out whats meant @deen.
Honestly, I'm really happy we are getting more exposure after all this time. I really feel we have something special here, something new, a game that I can't quite fit in any other category. Hope all the new people enjoy it
i think you don't need a filter for regular words but for racist things you should have a filter on by default (and always leave a way to turn it off) it's better than nothing

many times its a heat-of-the-moment thing. if someone really wanted to say something bad they could always do that, but 80% of the time its just someone who gets really mad and says something in chat quickly imo(edited)
@noby I seriously couldnt give less of a fuck, but I work in GameDev, and you get drilled to care about what your game allows and what it doesnt, it's not for me, it's for the game and also the players that might be sensitive.
nmo lol, adding a filtering blurs a big line on what u can say, then we add more and more words, someone decides x word is offensive and bum added to the filter

it starts with this shit

and ends worse

always

you see someone being racist, u call a mod thats it
thats a valid fear @Ryozuki, but seeing how strong people advocate even for the n word Id say that we'd have enough people retaliating if we censor "noob" or something like that
a client side filter is good enuff , it doesnt have to be a server side filter. since a few of people don't care about this feature, why bother argueing if it should be added or not
https://www.reddit.com/r/Animemes/ look this subreddit, they banned the word trap cuz the special mods found it offensive, now the sub is in war since 1 week
No but srsly, someone asks you why you dont want to filter out clearly bad words like nazi or nigger, then you say "because they're easy to write a different way", which shows you have no incentive to even tackle the problem at the slightest, and that argument also does not somehow make it okay to say nazi or nigger, theyre still words that should be banned. The argument about how it's somehow community culture to be offensive is not really an argument. The argument that people shouldn't be offended is also not an argument.
with the startup and the choice if you want to get a word filter activated, it's all your choice. nobody can stop you from turning on a filter because you dont want to see those words
