so... when will testing and map releases officially be announced dead? the maps are piling up, jao didnt test in half a year and the rest of the testers are inactive as well. you could at least have been so nice to tell the mappers to stop wasting their time mapping. but instead you halfass a test once and abandon the map forever.

I think the most important thing is that people who are mapping test others map and the other way around. That way mappers make the testing period shorter because the quality of the map is better before the testers need to take a look at it. This way it is a more sustainable situation. (edited)

I would agree with "declined until not perfect" testing scenario. Jao could decline all maps containing at least one critical bug and force mappers to fix their maps This would cut maps in active testing to 1/3 of its current count. Since many mappers are inactive for the moment, why should their maps take place in queue?

I think that jao is one of the few people that can judge a map by it's originality and the flow of the parts. So not everyone can help him. People can however help him test maps for bugs/faults whatsoever. That's a bit of the issue I think

Besides he has a different view because of his experience. He notices cheats, gameplay bug, mapping style problems etc. While other people only try and see if the parts are fun.

But I suggest anyone complaining come up with ideas of their own, because we spent an entire year a couple years back trying to figure out a better way and this is the best we could come up with

Tbh, I would have made a proper web tool like an issue tracker for map testing as discord seems very unwieldy with it's lack of tags, searching, queueing, milestones

Not formally iirc, but all maps go through "Initial submission" -> "Initial testing" -> "Iteration" -> "Polishing" -> "Ready for release"
