I'm not sure if it's a right place to ask, but I can't find any better. I have a problem with sound in tee. I'm using newest DDNet client on ubuntu and there is no sound only there. YouTube, other games are working fine. I have checked the console, but there are no errors about sound. Sndenable returns 1 and snd device returns -1. Any ideas? I would be greateful for any help ^^ (edited)

@BumBumeq have you tried running DDNet directly from the command line? Maybe that shows more on the command line
20:46
Settings -> Sound has everything enabled and sound volume up?
20:46
what sample rate?
Avatar
When running tw from command line there is only one line about sound "sound init successful".
20:53
Avatar
do you have pavucontrol or something like that?
Avatar
there are my sound settings
Avatar
try sample rate of 44100 instead of 48000
20:53
maybe it's muted in pavucontrol
20:54
oh, and do you have multiple audio outputs? Maybe it's using the wrong one
20:55
20:55
20:56
all logs from console without binds
20:56
Yes I have multiple audio outputs
20:56
but I choosed the right one in ubuntu settings
20:57
I have sound on youtube and other platforms
20:57
what is pavucontrol?
Avatar
pulseaudio control gui
20:57
where you can set which program 's audio goes to which output and mute each
Avatar
still not working with 44100 sample rate (after restarting client)
20:59
I don't have PulseAudio installed :/
Avatar
ps aux|grep pulseaudio is empty?
21:00
i was sure ubuntu uses pulseaudio
Avatar
then some kind of audio manager
Avatar
ohh nvm I've checked it in wrong way, not used to linnux
Avatar
Anyway, you could also try installing pavucontrol and running it
21:04

21:05
Avatar

21:05

Avatar

21:06
I'm wondering if it's an SDL issue
Avatar
18.04 LTS
21:10
I don't want to waste your time, thank you so much for your help. I will just switch to windows if I'd like to play tee ^^ Have a nice night 😄
Avatar
nah, it's no problem. others might be having the same issue, so we'll need to find a solution anyway
Avatar
Okay, if u want me to check something just PM me
Avatar
@BumBumeq try SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa ./DDNet
Avatar
it works now!
Avatar
and SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulseaudio ./DDNet doesn't, right?
Avatar
it looks like it works too
Avatar
huh, now I'm wondering what audio driver it is using then that doesn't work 😄
Avatar
😅 no idea
21:16
Thank you soooo much! 😇
Avatar
You're welcome 😃
Avatar
@BumBumeq does this one work without SDL_AUDIODRIVER? https://ddnet.tw/news/nightly-builds/ And what is printed out for the sound init?
21:56
And can someone test the sound with it on Windows please? ^
Avatar
yee it's working well
Avatar
Ok, then I guessed correctly. The audio driver is reporting that it would prefer a different format and we ignore that and instead pretend that it accepted the one that we asked. Now we force it to accept ours, makes more sense
Avatar
Sounds good
22:04
Switched to windows, downloaded this build and have sound
22:04
So, its works on windows too
Avatar
no problem
