what do you think about adding an additional non-spoofable way to request serverstatus? I think there are free bits in the current serverstatus request message, they could be used to indicate that we as a client support this new protocol. It could just be the standard serverstatus packet but with a handshake. I don't think there is a system in the server currently for handshakes (except the standard connection with is limited to 64 slots which we wouldn't want to use for that). maybe we could just use tcp

actually with tcp we would need to send two messages to request serverstatus, we couldn't use the standard message and make use of a "reserved for future use"-bit. (edited)

i wonder if synflood attacks would be a problem then with a naive implementation

We have 4 bytes of reserve, (and 4 more for padding, don't remember if these HAVE to be 0xFF) so we can have a 4 byte token.

the server needs to send the token though, theres no point to put it in the request msg, right? i think a tcp connection would be best

Learath2: did u watch the whole video about n26? xd Because you said "they fixed it" and "i only have small amounts" At the end of the video he revield that they didn't fix old app versions xxxD And you can loose 2k even if you have no cent on your account
