[quakenet] <Learath2> seems jupey added that one, im not sure
Avatar
@Learath2 we already build on an ancient linux...
Avatar
oh, and still it didn't work on his computer :/
06:24
even more ancient linux?
Avatar
yeah, looks like his linux mint version has an even older c++ stdlib
06:25
I'm building on Debian 6 already, while Debian 8 is going out of support soon...
Avatar
guess linking c++ stdlib statically shouldn't be much of an issue actually, it shouldn't be too big
Avatar
and I saw they have a nice solution for glibc with the special headers
06:25
but didn't find the equivalent for stdlibc++
Avatar
you can't really link glibc statically though, makes sense there is a solution
06:26
oh actually, I don't see why you can't, I've just never read about it
Avatar
well, you shouldn't statically link glibc
06:27
but you could use musl instead
Avatar
we could use that header solution for glibc and statically link libgcc and c++std
06:29
or actually we could have 3 builds like i've seen with some other products
06:31
that sounds like a stupid solution nvm, why hasn't this been solved already? 😄
Avatar
because Linux is not supposed to work like this
06:31
on Mac and Windows you get nice backwards-compatibility for commercial releases
06:31
on Linux your distribution is supposed to recompile all your binaries
06:32
but obviously that doesn't work if the distributions don't have the binary and your users are incapable of compiling it themselves
Avatar
well how were they thinking of accommodating for cases where you don't have source?
Avatar
eh, I guess things like flatpak kinda make sense to me now
Avatar
[quakenet] <quinerr> hm any more?
Avatar
what happened to the solution of simply linking to older glibc versions? @deen
10:01
.
Avatar
the problem here is libstdc++, not glibc
Avatar
I've nothing to do with that Debian package
Avatar
[quakenet] <quinerr> but you should at least mention the source of the font

[quakenet] <quinerr> your font point didn't match the unicode standard
11:13
[quakenet] <quinerr> while google's one does
11:16
[quakenet] <quinerr> more precisely, it uses private area
Avatar
then it seems they fucked up in that release idk
