[quakenet] <heinrich5991> these might make nice proxy servers, at the very least

[quakenet] <Learath2> @ChillerDragon it's a cloud server, I doubt the uplink is bad
15:33
[quakenet] <Learath2> they give gbit links with their dedis
15:34
[quakenet] <Learath2> it's 3 euros anyway, just get one and test it :P
Avatar
I'm setting up GER2 on one right now
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> oh nice
15:35
[quakenet] <Learath2> @deen do you have a script you use to set up servers?
Avatar
ddnet-scripts/ddnet-setup
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> that's a text file not a script :P
15:40
[quakenet] <Learath2> i wanted to write one of those fancy deployment scripts they use in the Web 7.0 nowadays
15:41
[quakenet] <heinrich5991> firefox is at 57.0 already
15:41
[quakenet] <heinrich5991> you still stuck in those single-digit versions?
15:41
[quakenet] <Learath2> :)
Avatar
docker?
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> :(
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> ofc, not docker can't provision a server, I meant sth like ansible
Avatar
well idk what even docker does tbh xD
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> docker aims to create a consistent environment for your app inside the "containers"
18:01
[quakenet] <Learath2> you create a docker image, and it runs in an isolated docker environment
18:02
[quakenet] <Learath2> s/environment/container/
18:02
[quakenet] <Learath2> I'm still not certain whether I like docker, it just might be too isolated for me, will get back to you when I use it enough to form an opinion
Avatar
i bet u will dislike it
18:03
as pretty much everything x)
18:03
like*
18:03
damn
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> well isn't it normal? I mean there is more crap then good
Avatar
you have too high standards
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> it's a good bet to make is my point, statistically much more possible that it's bad
18:30
I tried to use docker, but at the moment
18:30
I don't need it
18:30
so i got rid of it.
Avatar
I can see it being good as a build environment
Avatar
only the server stuff for now because its my favourite source area <3 And i am doing it manually so it takes a while, so i want to get sure if i am doing good stuff here.
Avatar
@Learath2 how with your auto-styling? 😄
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> wanted to use clang-format but it just can't do preprocessor statements correctly
Avatar
there's no another soluton?
Avatar
[quakenet] <Learath2> there are some other tools that require so much customization I'd need to have more free time on hand
Avatar
ChillerDragon 2018-01-23 22:44:26Z
@Savander taking some time and doing it manually also works... and in the future we all care about the convention
Avatar
@ChillerDragon please don't convert huge parts of the code (that you aren't touching anyway in some commit) between styles :/
Avatar
ChillerDragon 2018-01-23 23:12:08Z
Oh. Why? ._. I thought you like that
Avatar
it's okay if you change the style of code you touch
23:13
or if we will find some solution to do it mechanically, I'd be kinda okay to run it on the code
23:13
but just changing the style of code generally results in unneeded friction
23:13
e.g. merge conflicts when you try to apply some kind of patch
23:14
when you change the code anyway, that's not a big problem, because the actual change would have stopped the patch from applying as well
23:15
@ChillerDragon I hope you haven't done all that manually, but with a search-and-replace function?

ChillerDragon 2018-01-23 23:18:19Z
@heinrich5991 i didn't use a script. But i used strg+f but i didnt spam but Check what Is getting changed
